Hi Umich! My name is Taylor Rovin and I am one of UM Social’s new interns. I’m excited to be helping the creative team while learning new skills along the way. I’ll be focusing my time, especially on our Spotify and Instagram accounts!

I recently graduated from U-M with a BA in Women’s Studies and a minor in Law, Justice, and Social Change, but I’m sticking around Ann Arbor for (at least) two more years to pursue my Masters in Public Policy from U-M’s Ford School of Public Policy. When I was an undergrad, I started an organization called HeForShe, which is a chapter of the United Nations’ initiative for gender equality. Through this organization, I planned various consciousness-raising events and campaigns, including a video featuring University of Michigan football, basketball, and hockey players stating why they believe in gender equality and why they are #HeForShe. This video was received very well on HeForShe’s social media accounts, which influenced my desire to continue this sort of content creation with UM Social.

I’ve always been very creative. I love carefully curating my Instagram stories so they are aesthetically pleasing; I’m the resident interior decorator among my roommates; I make designs to sell as stickers, wall art, posters, etc. on Redbubble; and I was the social media coordinator for several clubs, a UMich Central Student Government campaign (MVision), as well as Patos Shoes, a brand-new sneaker company. With UM Social, I hope to bring my passions for social change and creativity together in order to design content for change and social awareness.

When I’m not trying to change the world (kidding not kidding), I love hanging out with my friends, watching movies (my roommates and I saw nearly every Oscar-nominated film this year), being outside (I’m originally from the Upper Peninsula, so, woods), eating delicious food, and traveling—I just returned from a trip to New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, and Thailand!

I cannot wait to get started at UM Social – Forever Go Blue!!
