The University of Michigan account was among the over 100 million that signed up within the first four days of Threads after its launch in July 2023 as a competitor to X. Since July, UMSocial has maintained a consistent presence on the platform, with the U-M account having earned nearly 50,000 followers in 2023. In the early stages of Threads, we found the most success focusing on powerful campus imagery and celebratory content in a similar fashion to Instagram, primarily due to the significant overlap between followers on both platforms. As the platform’s audience and features continue to expand in 2024, we look forward to finding unique ways to engage our audience and grow with the platform.
